We are located right on the water in Broad Creek, NC, just a short distance away from Emerald Isle, Atlantic Beach, and Morehead City. Having the benefit of being right on the water makes it easy for people to come out, get in a kayak and start their adventure.
Kayaking the creek offers a touch of peaceful tranquility. There are several options on where you can kayak while on the water. You may choose to venture into the creek which splits off into two separate directions. After passing under the Broad Creek bridge you enter into an area of open water. In this area you will see shrimp jumping all over the water, which is a pretty interesting sight.
Heading off to the right you will find a twisting turning area of marsh land. As you paddle through this area you will want to pay special attention to the banks watching thousands of crabs scurrying around on the shore. As you kayak deeper into the marsh path, you may see an eagle, an osprey, and many other types of wildlife.
If you choose to head in the opposite direction you will be heading out into the Intercoastal Waterway and the Bogue Sound. There are many cut-banks along the ICW that you can kayak up to and hunt for shells to take home as a souvenir. Heading further you can cross over a cut-bank to enter the Bogue Sound. While in the Sound you will experience little to no boat traffic. This area of water is quite shallow making it difficult to navigate for any motorized boats.
