Emerald Isle Kitesurfing
What are you waiting for?

Most likely you have already seen it in action. You have asked yourself the question, would I be able to do it? It has been at the back of your mind for some time now, but for one reason or another it has stayed there. Its time to get it out of your mind and get yourself into the water.
We get the question all of the time, “what does it take to learn the sport of kiteboarding?” One answer….. determination. That is the main component to success with this sport. We have seen it over and over, people getting up and taking off for their first ride. It’s truly an awesome sight to see, more importantly though, it’s an awesome feeling to feel.
Kiteboarding is our absolute passion, it is not a job to us, but a way of life. We wish to show you how it can change yours. We have seen the positive effect it has had on nearly every person who has come to us for lessons, we would like to have that same effect on you!
It is hard to explain the freedom you feel when you are out on the water. Once you get out there on your own, you start to connect with everything around you. The more you are out, the less you pay attention to the kite. You start to see things around you. You hear the water at your feet, the sounds of the summer all around, the breeze whispering in your ear about all things enjoyable in life.
This sport speaks, it speaks right to the center of your being. If you have had a hard day, or a hard week, there is no better way to sort it out then on the water. The answer my friend, is blowing in the wind. It is here waiting for your taking. We throw out the proverbial ball for you to grab, together we will run with it until you master it. Come on out and experience some Carolina Kitesurfing. We look forward to hearing for you!
You may contact us through our website with any questions about lessons, gear, or anything else you feel we may have the answer to, we love to hear from you! Email us at info@blownkiteboarding.com You may reach us by phone @ 252-269-9843. Follow this link to our Home Page
Emerald Isle kiteboarding
Something truly amazing; watching the sun drop into a large body of water. Watching the atmosphere change different colors, the sun sinking, burning, lighting the water on fire. Burning a hole through your eyes as you cannot remove them from its beauty.
Now imagine watching this from the water while the wind is your chariot. The power of nature is at your finger tips and you are experiencing a piece of mystery. You are actually a part of it instead of a bystander. Make yourself a part of life, make yourself a part of this sport, make yourself who you want to be…
I want to be in the water, I want to be a part of life, I want to be a part of this world. Not looking in, or looking on, but taking part. Taking part in something that brings lasting joy. Use the elements, use the wind, get in the water, get with the best sport on the planet…. KITEBOARDING!

Kiteboarding Safety
Is Kiteboarding Safe?
The sport of kiteboarding is taking leaps and bounds in the realm of safety. The equipment has evolved from some primitive type contraptions that always pulled and never wanted to relaunch, into something that is completely safe and dependable.
The recent advancements in bar technology alone have been extremely important to the safety of the individual, as well as the sport in general. Older safety systems were typically above the control bar. This would make your safety leash hard to use, or if hooked below the bar it was ineffective. Even older than those systems were wrist leashes, which could account for a lot of sprained wrists.
Most kiteboarding manufacturers have followed the trend of making kiteboarding gear as safe as possible. Flag lines now run through the bar where you can connect your safety leash without having it wrap around the bar every time you crash. This is extremely helpful when you are learning and progressing in the sport of kiteboarding.
Self rescue techniques have been examined and changed along with the evolution of the sport. There are many different ways taught on how to properly release the power of your kite, but the end result must be the same. The goal of a kiteboarding self rescue is to reach the kite while keeping yourself out of the lines. If this is not the type of self rescue technique that you have been taught, please be sure to look into IKO standards on self rescue.
We at Blown Kiteboarding use the newest gear with the most advanced self rescue systems available on the market. We stay up to date on teaching theory and continue to advance our teaching program based on the new technology each year. Safety is the most important aspect of this sport, with that in mind you will be able to enjoy the sport of kiteboarding for years to come.
There are many kiteboarding schools out there to choose from. We’re not trying to talk you out of another kiteboarding school, we are selling you on why you should come to ours! Blown Kiteboarding – “The Experience of a lifetime, for a lifetime!”

2012 Cabrinha Drifter Kite
- 2012 Cabrinha Drifter
- 2012 Cabrinha Drifter in Flight
- 2012 Cabrinha Drifter in the Surf
Damien LeRoy brought all of Cabrinha kites new products for Blown Kiteboarding to try out; here is what we thought about the Cabrinha Drifter. The Drifter was designed to be a wave kite and it certainly excels in that area! We were fortunate enough to have some surf, and a Cabrinha S-Quad to use, which by the way is a fantastic combination!
The Cabrinha Drifter is named adequately; as you run down the line it seems to just sit there and drift with you. We have tested other kites that backstall when you run at them, but the Cabrinha Drifter will continue to drift back downwind. No more accidentally back-stalling your kite in the surf from getting too caught in the moment on that perfect wave!
Kite placement is always an important part of riding waves. The Cabrinha Drifter will allow you to focus more on the surf, than the kite. The turning speed is responsive with light to moderate bar pressure. The kite loops quickly and depowers easily, which is exactly what you want with a wave kite. No more getting pulled off of your board for looping to soon.
Our summation is this; If your area of expertise is the surf and you spend countless hours doing just that, then this is without a doubt the kite for you. If you spend a majority of your time in the surf and just a little time in flat water, then this is still the kite for you. If your flat water to surf equation is 50/50, you may want to think about the Cabrinha Vector or the Cabrinha Switchblade.
We at Blown Kiteboarding would be happy to help you make the right decison based on your personal riding preferences and also your geographical area. Please feel free to email us with any questions at info@blownkiteboarding.com or follow the link to our home page
2012 Cabrinha Vector Kite
- 2012 Cabrinha Vector in Action
- 2012 Cabrinha Vector in Flight
- Launching 2012 Cabrinha Vector
We got the chance to try all of the new 2012 Cabrinha Kites. Here is our review of the Cabrinha Vector which should be available soon. We were supprised to see a hybrid design with the Cabrinha name on it, but there was no mistaking it, the wingtips make a sharp turn with an unmistakable C like shape.
The 2012 Cabrinha Vector is a great replacement for the Cabrinha Convert. We are happy to say it has exceeded all of our expectations and then some. The Vector has a nice consistant pull, with fast turning speed. The bar pressure is moderate to light, with that silky smooth feel Cabrinha Kites always have. The Vector has excellent re-launch capabilities; we put it down in the surf a few times and it popped right back up with no struggles.
We have yet to get the actual price of the Cabriha Vector, but it is going to be Cabrinhas price point kite. If you are looking to get into the sport, this kite will be an affordable way to get a top of the line kite. It will take you all the way from beginner to expert.
