2013 Cabrinha Switchblade Review

The 2013 Cabrinha Switchblade has undergone a major design change for the first time in years. If you have been a fan of the Cabrinha Switchblade like we have, this may make you nervous. How can you improve on a kite that does so many things so well? We had a chance to compare the 2013 Switchblade against the 2012 and we will note some changes that we noticed.

Without question there is less bar pressure with the 2013 Cabrinha Switchblade. The kite is very responsive moving a bit faster then previous models. We believe the faster turning speed will make this kite a bit more versatile for the range of conditions, more specifically taking it out into the surf. Previous year models excelled in every area except that category. This year model will truly take you wherever you want to go.

If you will notice the pictures at the top you can see the shape change in the wingtips. All of Cabrinhas kites for the 2013 year have taken on more of a SLE look, rather than a bow. This can account for a greater range in the high end, while taking away just a touch in the low end. The faster turning speed on this kite alone will help generate the apparent wind to produce the power you need in lighter wind speeds.

If you are wanting a kite that will do anything and everything, we believe you should look no further.  If you are a beginner that wants to accelerate quickly, this kite will aid in your progression. There has been a major improvement in the water relaunch of this kite. There were complaints last year of difficulty in relaunching the 2012 Cabrinha Switchblade, but that has been addressed in this years kite.
